Review a split proposal

You uploaded a file with Let AI decide, and the file turned out to be more than one thing (say, a forty-page vendor document where the first half is a data dictionary and the rest is business rules). Document types control how the AI reads a document (see Upload knowledge documents), so one type would short-change half the file. Instead of guessing, DeltaVault proposes a split: one part per content kind, each with its own name, type, and body taken from your original text.

Until you decide, the original document is parked:

• In the Knowledge documents grid, its type reads Split pending and its status shows a Split review chip.
• Its page shows a banner (“Awaiting split review.”) explaining that the document stays out of search and AI context until you resolve the proposal.

Split proposals only come from Let AI decide uploads. A document you typed a type for is never split.

Open the review

1. In the Knowledge documents grid, click the Split review chip, or open the document and click Review split proposal (a button in the page header; the banner carries the same link).
2. The review page opens, titled Split proposal, carrying the original document’s name, with the number of proposed splits beside it. View original document links back to the source.

Review each part

The list on the left shows every proposed part: its name, its proposed type, and a confidence score between 0 and 1. A warning triangle marks low-confidence parts: read those closely.

For each part:

1. Select the part in the list.
2. Read the proposed name, document type, and body. The body reuses your original wording, reorganized by section: the AI does not rewrite your content.
3. Edit the name, type, or body inline if the AI got something wrong.
4. Click Accept to turn the part into a document, or Reject to discard it.

To resolve several parts in one go, tick their checkboxes and use the Accept and Reject buttons under the list. Parts with a confidence of 0.60 or higher come pre-ticked.

Every part is its own decision: accept the data dictionary, reject the boilerplate, and nothing you discard enters the library.

What an accepted part becomes

Each accepted part is a normal knowledge document:

• It keeps the original’s scope: organization or project. A split never changes scope.
• It is processed and becomes searchable like any upload.
• Its page shows Split from with a link back to the original document.
• Its type carries the AI attribution: the sparkle icon and the Chosen by AI badge with the part’s confidence. If you changed the type before accepting, the type counts as your choice and carries no attribution.

Keep the document as one

If the file really is one thing and the proposal misses the point:

1. Click Keep as one at the top of the review page.
2. Pick a type under “Keep the original as a single document of type”.
3. Click Confirm.

The proposal closes, and the original goes through normal processing under your chosen type. Keep as one is only offered while no part has been accepted: once a part is accepted, the original is already partially superseded.

Abandon the proposal

Abandon discards the proposal outright. Because it leaves the original document without a type, the dialog asks you to type ABANDON to confirm: “The proposed splits are discarded and the original document is released with an error state. You will need to set a type manually to keep it.”

Parts you already accepted stay: by then they are normal documents.

When the last part is resolved

• At least one part accepted: you land back on the Knowledge Base, where the accepted parts now sit as normal documents, and the original is archived automatically. Its page reads “This document was split into separate documents.” with a link to the proposal, and its file stays available for download. Revisiting the proposal shows “This proposal is finalized.” with links to the accepted documents.
• Every part rejected, or you abandoned: the original shows an error, Split abandoned: set a type manually to keep this document. To keep it, open the document, click Edit, pick a type, and save. It reprocesses as a normal single-type document.
